02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Lanark Thistle Bowling Club is the oldest bowling club in Scotland. By gaining community charity status our club has access to a wider range of funding opportunities, allowing us to modernise and secure our future. We are at the heart of our community and offer sport and social activity through the sport of lawn bowls. We work with other charities and local community organisations in providing their services from our site.

4 The Organisation has been formed to benefit the community of South Lanarkshire (the “Community”), with the following purposes (the “Purposes”): 4.1 The advancement of public participation in sport through participation in the game of bowls 4.2 The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities with the objects of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended.
