02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The full details were set out in detail in the application for becoming a SCIO, these have not changed. LBSC trustees meet monthly, to review projects and activities and plan for routine and specific activities. In addition to our SCIO constituted SCIO governance and operational procedures for the management of assets ashore and afloat. specific sub-groups include: 1) Cruising, 2) Dinghy Sailing (Juniors and adults), 3) Flying Fifteen racing and 4) Coastal rowing. Key events each year include the junior sailing week in July and the Campbells Trophy for Cruisers in August. The club is affiliated to the RYA, established best practice is documented and followed for safety and welfare. The club facilities are used by other community groups. There is an AGM, an annual dinner and informal social events throughout the year. In 2025, LBSC has 143 members (86 male and 57 female). 32 of these under 17. The majority of these live in Ullapool and the surrounding area.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation's primary purpose is to promote and facilitate the sport of sailing. The organisation's further purposes are to encourage and enable community participation in all aspects of boating, water sports and outdoor activities.
