02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We provide care for sick, injured or orphaned wild European hedgehogs with the aim of rehabilitation and release back into the wild to support existing populations across Dundee, Angus, and North East Fife. We also work with other hedgehog rescues, sharing resources and knowledge to help as many hedgehogs as possible across central Scotland. Our aim is to provide the best quality care, keeping up with latest developments, to successfully rehabilitate as many hedgehogs as possible and return them to the wild. We engage with local communities to raise awareness of the issues facing the species and explain how people can help support Britain’s favourite mammal, which is currently at risk of extinction and on the International Union for Conservation Red List.

Constitutional objectives
a) The advancement of animal welfare through providing care for sick, injured or orphaned wild hedgehogs (Erinaceus europaeus) with the aim of rehabilitation and release back into the wild to support existing local populations. b) The advancement of education of the general public by promoting understanding of the needs of wild hedgehogs, and the issues facing the species which is currently at risk of species extinction and on the International Union for Conservation (IUCN) Red List.
