02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Friends of Lyne Kirk charity was set up for the purpose of buying Lyne Kirk building from the Church of Scotland to preserve and maintain the building as a place of historic interest, public worship and private spiritual reflection. Following a successful crowd funding campaign launched by the charity in November 2024 sufficient funds were raised to buy the building and the purchase was completed in February 2025. The charity organises community events to raise funds for the ongoing maintenance of the Kirk which is used by a local congregation for public worship.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are: a) The advancement of Heritage and Culture by : i)the purchase, maintenance and preservation of Lyne Kirk, located 4.5 miles west of Peebles in the Scottish Borders, and which, as a category B listed building, is designated as a place of special architectural and historic interest. ii)ensuring Lyne Kirk remains open to all who wish to visit this special building, at all times throughout the year. b The advancement of Religion by securing the continued use of Lyne Kirk as a place of public worship and private spiritual reflection.
