02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Established in 1901, Dundee High Cricket Club is an open and independent club and registered Scottish Charity (SC053242). The club runs three senior teams, four junior teams, and a newly established female section and provides year-round training, development programmes, and competitive playing opportunities across all ages and abilities. The club serves Dundee’s Maryfield and Coldside Wards, ranked in SIMD Decile 1 and 2, which represents the top 20% of Scotland’s most deprived areas. The club partners with local schools and charitable groups to deliver cricket sessions, with a specific focus on young people, those facing financial difficulties and underrepresented groups. Activities include taster sessions, extracurricular clubs, holiday camps, and weekly club-based training and fixtures. These inclusive sessions promote positive mental and physical health while providing opportunities for personal development and social mobility, particularly among minority groups.
