02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Diversity Bridge SCIO is set up to promote equality, inclusion and community cohesion by supporting people from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME), refugee and migrant communities in Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. The charity works to reduce social isolation, inequality and barriers to participation by creating safe, inclusive spaces where people feel welcomed, heard and supported. We deliver our aims through community events, cultural celebrations, creative projects, training and mentoring, and practical support initiatives. These include workshops, storytelling and media projects, advice sessions, wellbeing activities and partnership programmes with local organisations. We also support individuals and families experiencing hardship through targeted initiatives, signposting and access to resources. Diversity Bridge SCIO helps strengthen social connections, promote mutual respect and improve life chances for those who face disadvantage.
