02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity is set up to support Ukrainian children and young people aged 5 to 18 by providing education, care and stability in a safe and welcoming environment. We teach Ukrainian language, history, culture and heritage, alongside core subjects such as mathematics, English and business studies, and we also help children develop social skills, confidence and a sense of belonging. We do this through weekly classes, extra-curricular activities, creative projects and opportunities to learn about both Ukrainian and Scottish culture. We also support the children emotionally as they adjust to life in Scotland after the war in Ukraine. In addition, we organise charitable activities, fundraising and community events so the children can give back, build friendships and grow in confidence while making a positive contribution to their local community.
