02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

BECYCLE started operating in 2007 when 2 students began their voluntary work with the workshop based in a shed. Throughout the years the locations were changing and growing into our current workshop and so did the numbers of volunteers and numbers of people able to find help through our services. The goal was the same from the start until now – to provide access to cycling to more and more people regardless of their gender, age, race, beliefs, status, income, etc. To make that happen, we are providing bikes on a library loan basis with a fully refundable deposit upon return of the bike. Bicycles can be leased for indefinite time, given that the six-month lease is extended in person with the bike brought to the workshop for the purpose of checking it for possible need of repair.
