02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our charity aim is to promote & support public participation in paddlesport in our local area. This is through both participation in club activities for members to undertake trips and training to gain paddle sport awards and coaching qualifications. The club runs introductory sessions for both members of the public and members of local youth organisations such as Scouts/guides to both expose them to the fun & excitement of the sport but to ensure they understand how to participate safely. The club maintains a selection of equipment to allow people to participate in the activities before making the commitment to purchase their own equipment.

Constitutional objectives

The Club’s purposes are to promote the advancement of public participation in paddlesport in the Thurso, West Caithness and North Sutherland area. The key aims and activities are: (a) to provide training and coaching. and paddling trips (b) to provide opportunities for Members to try different aspects of paddlesport activities. (c) to support club Members to gain paddlesport awards, this may include applying for financial assistance to other organisations. (d) to provide information about paddlesport. (e) work with other organisations to promote paddlesports and other related activities such as environmental awareness. access and water safety. (f) financially assisting Members to attend courses and / orpurchase equipment (g) to run competitions and events.
