02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Riverview Community SCIO (RCSCIO) exists to love and serve the people of Bo’ness, Scotland, with a particular focus on those experiencing poverty, trauma, isolation and addiction. Established in 2024, RCSCIO provides an umbrella for a growing range of community-led activities and projects responding to local need. While our work is inspired by our Christian faith, all our services are open to everyone, without discrimination, obligation or judgement. Our approach is relationship-based and long term. Rather than short-term interventions, we prioritise consistent human connection, recognising that trust, dignity and belonging are essential for recovery and change. We work with people, not on them, supporting the restoration of agency and confidence. People with lived experience of poverty and trauma are involved in our volunteer teams, and they help to shape our work and strengthen our ability to respond compassionately and effectively.
