02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Nescan Hub is a community-led charity dedicated to driving climate action and a just transition in North East Scotland. We empower communities to understand climate change, increase biodiversity, and build resilience through climate literacy training, workshops, events, and initiatives like Climate Week North East and Envirolution Aberdeen. We provide tailored 1:1 support, seed funding, and funding advice to help community organisations create sustainable projects. As part of a partnership, we deliver a £1m Just Transition participatory budgeting fund across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and Moray. With over 400 members, we foster peer learning, democratic processes, and advocacy, ensuring community voices influence policy and decision-making. Our work combines education, collaboration, and practical support to enable communities to take meaningful climate action and shape a healthier, sustainable future.
