02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
For the past 45 years the Festival has provided a family oriented public event using the 1263 Battle of Largs as part of our heritage. The festival encourages Community involvement, Scots and Viking Village of the 12th/13th Centuries, through workshops, lectures, entertainment and battle reenactment events.

Constitutional objectives
The objects for which the Company is established are:- The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science and in furtherance of this, the company will aim::- i. To promote, plan and manage an annual Festival within and for the communities of Largs and its surrounding areas. ii. To develop a greater sense of community. iii. To increase community involvement and participation in the annual event. iv. To encourage international cultural exchanges, particularly with Scandinavian countries. v. To develop a greater sense of cultural awareness among all age groups.
