02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To carry out our Charitable Purposes, in accord with our Constitution, which are: (1) the advancement of citizenship or community development.(2) the advancement of education.(3) the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science.(4) the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended.(5) the advancement of environmental protection or improvement for our beneficiaries in the hamlet of Carrington and surrounding areas in Midlothian. Our Trustees and local volunteers deliver fund raising events such as tribute bands in local halls and organise free-to-attend local seasonal activities such as Christmas celebrations (involving a lighting ceremony of a decorated large natural fir tree and illuminated trees on Primrose Green.), Remembrance Day ceremony plus maintenance of a defibrillator in the ex-telephone box.
