What the charity exists to do
OPEKA is a small charity that supports adults with additional support needs to live more fulfilling, connected, and independent lives, while also providing much needed respite for parents and carers. We deliver inclusive, structured activities that promote wellbeing, skill development, and social engagement for adults with a wide range of disabilities, including autism, learning disabilities, Down syndrome, visual impairment, and complex health needs. We provide activities across three days each week, primarily at the Carswell Centre in Eaglesham, with additional sessions held at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice to ensure continuity of support for individuals with more complex needs who require specialist facilities. Our programme includes creative, social, and practical activities, alongside targeted sessions which help participants develop life skills, build confidence, and increase independence.
