02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The lack of affordable, flexible childcare and workspace solutions for working parents, particularly mothers, often forces them to reduce working hours, decline career opportunities, or leave the workforce entirely. This worsens gender inequality, increases financial hardship, and reinforces social isolation - particularly in deprived areas. The Inch, where we are based, has areas ranked among the most deprived 10% in Scotland. Our innovative, community-led solution provides a coworking space with a supervised play area, ensuring parents can work while their children are in a safe environment. We also offer mental health support and digital access, ensuring both immediate relief and long-term systemic change. By reducing isolation, fostering community connections, and empowering struggling families, we strengthen both individual well-being and the wider family unit. Through an inclusive environment that helps parents and children grow together, we ensure that everyone can thrive.
