02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
4 The Trust’s purposes are to benefit those residents of the community of the town of Largs and settlements of Fairlie and Skelmorlie, which comprises those who live or work in the postcode sectors KA30, KA29 or PA17. Through our rented facility called ''Your Space'', we provide rooms for hire for local groups and clubs as well as office for people to work in. It also holds literature with local advice from other charities and local authority as well as people who can signpost. This building also houses our local radio station project. We have also been in involved in landscaping projects in and around the town and we currently completed a project to have accessible pool steps installed in the local swimming pool.

The SCIO's purposes are to benefit principally the community of the town of Largs and neighbouring settlements, which comprises those who live, have a family connection to or work in the postcode sectors KA30, KA29 or PA17 ('the Community') with the following objects: The advancement of community development (including the advancement of urban and rural regeneration) principally within the Community. The advancement of education The advancement of citizenship The advancement of environmental protection or improvement The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage The prevention or relief of poverty But only to the extent that the above purposes are consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development.
