What the charity exists to do
SQIFF (Scottish Queer International Film Festival) is a charity showcasing diverse queer cinema and uplifting LGBTQIA+ voices in Scotland and beyond, through an annual Glasgow festival, pop-up events, and year-round programmes. Founded in 2015 by volunteers, SQIFF is now one of the UK's largest queer film festivals and remains Scotland's only one. It presents films from around the world, sparking conversations on LGBTQIA+ topics. Community is central to SQIFF. As pioneers of pay-what-you-can pricing, now widely adopted, it champions accessibility through, live captioning, BSL interpretation, descriptive subtitles, and audio description, ensuring all audiences can participate. SQIFF partners UK-wide to empower emerging filmmakers via Filmmaking Workshops, the Queer Filmmakers Group, and the Queer Talent Directory, plus a 170+ member Discord for Scottish film industry professionals.
