02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The mission purpose is to engage men of ages from 18 up to 90 and beyond, to provide a place for nurturing friendship and creating a feeling of belonging. Develop a positive and co-operative culture among it's members. Meet the needs of members and their families as appropriate and be supported by the families. Be a valuable, well connected and respected community asset. Have appropriate activities supported by safe working practices. Have effective partnerships within the community. Be a place of learning new skills and improving existing ones. We hold weekly meetings sessions to allow our members to come along and meet. These meetings have served many strategic purposes: They have allowed members to steer the trustee board in the way they would like the shed to operate: Allowed safe spaces to discuss issues impacting or affecting members: giving members a reason to get out of their home and meet other people. For some members this is their only activity away from home
