02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Mark Sommerville Foundation (MSF) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), registered on 2 September 2024. The charity’s purpose is to relieve the needs of individuals affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND) through the provision of financial grants, equipment and support. We also aim to accelerate clinical trials and research into treatments that have the potential to slow the progression or reverse symptoms of MND, particularly where progress is restricted by a lack of funding. During the year, we successfully raised funds through awareness campaigns, donations and fundraising events. We provided direct grants to eight individuals diagnosed with MND and invested in Nevrargenics Limited to support the clinical development of Ellorarxine. The charity is managed by a trustee management committee, supported by a wider volunteer committee. All committee members are volunteers, with minimal ongoing running costs, allowing funds raised to be directed towards our

Funding for those affected by Motor Neurone Disease 2. Grants for those with a diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease to help with home adaptions 3. Financial help to those diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease who face a disadvantage due to financial circumstances’
