02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We campaign for the human rights of Tibetans. This includes advocacy to build political support and secure action on specific issues/cases. It also includes general public awareness campaigning, primarily via digital platforms. We also arrange events to promote and celebrate Tibetan culture and heritage. In addition, we are a member of the International Tibet Network and act as the secretariat for the Cross-Party Group on Tibet in the Scottish Parliament.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation's purposes are: a. To promote the human rights (as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights ('UDHR') and subsequent United Nations conventions and declaration and in regional codes of human rights which incorporate the rights contained in the UDHR and those subsequent conventions and declarations) of the Tibetan people, and a peaceful resolution to the Sino-Tibetan conflict, by all or any of the following means: i. Promoting public support for the human rights of the Tibetan people. ii. Raising awareness of human rights issues affecting Tibetans. iii. Research into human rights issues affecting Tibetans. iv. Providing technical advice to governments and others on human rights matters relating to the Tibetan people, including Tibetans living in Scotland. v. Promoting respect for the human rights of the Tibetan people among individuals and corporations. and vi. International advocacy of human rights for the Tibetan people. b. To promote Tibetan culture and heritage in Scotland, for the benefit of the public and the Tibetan community in Scotland in particular, by organising and/or participating in events where culture and heritage are celebrated.
