02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Skirling Community Development Trust was set up in October 2024 by the community of Skirling to support the delivery of the Skirling Community Action Plan 2024-2029. There was a need for a legal entity to take forward a number of the proposed projects in the Community Action Plan and to own any land or assets over time on behalf of the community which would enable some of the community projects and protect the environment and community spaces in Skirling. SCDT has in place a Board of 7 Trustees and a part-time paid Coordinator who undertake a number of projects in support of the Skirling Community Action Plan. Over the last year projects have included supporting the Skirling 750 Years Exhibition and Display in the Village Hall, exploring the opportunity for a playpark in the village, and improving pathways connecting Skirling with neighbouring communities, as well as consulting the community on their priority projects for future years.
