02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Diamond Smiles Foundation exists to improve the health, wellbeing and life opportunities of women who have experienced domestic abuse by providing access to free restorative dental treatment that would otherwise be beyond their financial means. We work in partnership with domestic abuse and addiction organisations, to identify women whose oral health has been affected by trauma, neglect or an inability to access care. Through the generosity of volunteer dentists, dental nurses, hygienists, therapists, laboratories and industry partners, we provide comprehensive dental treatment including examinations, fillings, extractions, dentures, crowns and dental implants where clinically appropriate. Alongside treatment, we aim to restore confidence, dignity and quality of life, enabling women to smile, eat, speak and engage with work, education and their communities with renewed self-esteem.
