02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The object of this Charitable Trust is the relief of those in need by reason of financial hardship through the provision of low cost housing in or near to the following areas. Dalry, Balmaclellan, New Galloway and Carsphairn in the Stewartry of Kircudbright in Scotland

Constitutional objectives

The organisation’s purposes are: (a) The provision of affordable housing in the Glenkens area for those who are in need by reason of financial hardship or some other disadvantage as the trustees shall determine in their sole discretion. This will include the provision of affordable housing in order to assist and support such individuals to (firstly) find or retain employment in the area. and (secondly) to benefit from training opportunities provided in the area that could enhance their future employment prospects. (b) The advancement of citizenship and community development within the Glenkens area, with particular emphasis upon regeneration based upon need with a view to improving the social, economic and/or physical quality of life of the local community or any part of it, as the trustees shall determine in their sole discretion. and (c) The advancement of environmental protection and improvement within the Glenkens by promoting, supporting and adopting where possible such environmentally friendly and carbon neutral measures that the trustees consider to be appropriate, both within the Glenkens community and at the properties owned by the organisation.
