02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

This charity is set up to provide a safe space for young people (12yrs+) who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community in Inverclyde. Our projects are art and culture based to aid our young people engage with the local LGBTQ+ community near and far. We also run focused sessions discussing mental health and wellbeing. We are running a queer book group which is based for 18yrs+.

Constitutional objectives

The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. • Providing opportunities for young people, especially those from underrepresented groups like the LGBTQ+ community, to engage in creative activities, such as arts, music, and cultural projects, to express themselves, build confidence, and contribute to their personal and social development. The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended - • Creating a safe and supportive environment where young people, particularly those identifying as LGBTQ+, can participate in recreational activities such as peer support groups, workshops, and social events designed to promote their wellbeing and foster a sense of belonging. The promotion of equality and diversity. • Encouraging inclusion and self-esteem by offering programmes that raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and promote equality through education, peer support, and community engagement, ensuring that young people's voices are heard and their input shapes the services provided. From the description of the activities, this is to benefit those within Inverclyde.
