02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Spindlehowe Residents Association was established to help maintain and improve the shared environment on the Spindlehowe Estate, following the reduction in grass-cutting services provided by the local council. Our main activity is arranging and funding the regular cutting and maintenance of communal grassed areas during the growing season. Residents contribute towards the cost, and we use local contractors to carry out the grass cutting and maintenance. Alongside this core activity, we undertake community clean-ups and other environmental improvement work to enhance shared areas and support residents’ wellbeing and enjoyment. This includes clearing overgrown pathways and shrubs, removing litter and improving areas that have become neglected or difficult to access. We involve residents in identifying local needs and encourage community participation in caring for and improving our shared environment.
