Constitutional objectives

The organisation’s purposes are: Through education, to develop social capital, and promote community participation: To advance education - We envisage that in addition to our members’ skills in growing plants, there will be others in the community with a similar skills base who will be open to supporting novices, sharing their knowledge, and/or simply themselves benefitting from the social interaction. To provide recreational facilities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the activities are primarily intended - As a group, we will be involved in developing two outdoor spaces for growing food. One is the classic style of growing food on an allotment area, the other is a food forest. The project will be open to anyone in the community. To advance health - Both of these outdoor spaces support the improvement of health and well-being as they are outdoors, and will involve physical exercise and socialisation. Fostering economic and social resilience will improve well-being. The sustainable nature of the project ensures a positive legacy for informing healthy lifestyle choices. To advance environmental improvement - By building a seed bank, and the use of a wormery for composting waste, with chipping fallen branches from trees, the project will educate people as to the benefits of sustainability, and becoming self-sustaining. Long term, we would hope to share compost, seeds, and indeed some ground space with the community, in order to help provide nutrient-dense fruit and veg for those who want to be involved, or are physically unable to devote time to growing. have an impediment that prevents them from being ‘hands on’.
