02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity exists to ensure the long-term preservation of the historic 'A' listed 16th Century village church in Oldhamstocks, East Lothian, Scotland for the use of the community and Scotland at large, whilst providing religious, cultural and social benefits. In this first year of the charity's existence (27 November 2024 - 30 November 2025), the charity had not yet acquired the church from the Church of Scotland. The acquisition of the church subsequently took place shortly after the end of this initial reporting period, on 23 December 2025. Accordingly, for this initial 12 month period following incorporation, the charity's activities were effectively dormant.

Constitutional objectives
The company's objects are:- (a) the advancement of religion by providing the local community with a venue for weddings, funerals, occasional informal worship, sanctuary and quiet reflection. and (b) the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture and science by preserving the sanctity of the building and making it available for public use and, without prejudice to the foregoing generality, supporting the local community by providing a venue for appropriate community events, culture and music.
