02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Eat Sleep Ride advances education, health and community development through equine-assisted learning, outdoor education and therapeutic programmes. We work with children and young people whose lives have been shaped by poverty, trauma, isolation, care experience and neurodivergence, and with families and communities across the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and Edinburgh. We do this from Quarry Farm, a 24-acre off-grid farm at Lamberton, built by volunteers on land reclaimed from a former landfill. Young people come for equine-assisted wellbeing sessions, a youth club, holiday camps and day trips, with a hot meal, transport and riding kit provided free so that cost is never a barrier. They work towards Dynamic Youth, Duke of Edinburgh and Saltire Awards, and move on through our employability programme and placements with employers. We rescue and rehabilitate horses, grow food, and give practical help to families in hardship. Volunteers build and support with the site management

Constitutional objectives
The Company's charitable purposes are: To relieve the needs of people due to ill-health, disability, unemployment, social exclusion, poverty or other disadvantage by providing equine assisted therapy as well as non-equine therapy programmes including counselling, Emotional Tapping and Neuro Linguist Programming (NLP). The advancement of education through: Wellbeing and Inclusion: Which includes Peer support, Mentoring, community activities, walking groups gardening and volunteering. Education & skills development: Environment, nature, equine and countryside learning including accreditations, youth awards and certification -enhancing life chances and opportunities. Personal empowerment: sessions on growth mindset, reflective coaching, boundaries, coping strategies, mindfulness, leadership & communication, and emotional intelligence. The relief of poverty through the provision of employment training programmes, food and clothes donations, transport, community activities and access to free therapies. To advance environmental protection and improvement and encouraging stewardship among children, young people and families, through nature-based learning, rewilding, sustainable land practices, and intergenerational volunteering.
