Constitutional objectives
5.1 The SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes by supporting financially and otherwise students and academics predominately but not exclusively from or connected to the Global South, with a focus on the provision of:- 5.1.1 bursaries, grants and scholarships to students and academics from the Global South to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in humanities. 5.1.2 workshops and seminars for students to enhance academic capabilities and professional skills. and 5.1.3 a mentorship programme connecting students with professionals and academics. 5.2 In particular for the purposes of the 2005 Act the charitable purpose identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act is:- 5.2.1 the advancement of education. and 5.2.2 the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
