02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Krishna Community SCIO works to relieve poverty and advance the Hare Krishna faith. Through Food For All Scotland, we seek to address food insecurity by providing food assistance to people experiencing hardship, developing community food-growing projects and promoting a more sustainable local food system. We also support the spiritual and religious life of the Krishna community through the Radha Krishna Spiritual Centre in Perth, religious gatherings, and monthly kirtan events in Glasgow. We organise community activities, host visiting speakers and talks, and encourage volunteering, community participation and interfaith engagement. Through these activities, we aim to support people in need, strengthen local communities and provide opportunities for people to practise and learn about Krishna consciousness.
