02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Cults Library Trust is a Scottish charity established to support community, education and wellbeing in Cults and the surrounding areas. Our primary ambition is to secure the former Cults Library building through a Community Asset Transfer from Aberdeen City Council and transform it into a welcoming, accessible and financially sustainable community hub. The building is not yet in our ownership, and we continue to work towards securing it. Alongside this, we aim to develop and deliver local educational and community projects, activities and events that encourage learning, improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation and bring people together. We work towards our charitable purposes through community engagement, volunteering, fundraising, partnership working and project development. Our longer-term plans include library facilities, community spaces, a garden and a small café, subject to funding.
