02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Watergate Church exists to help people discover and grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ and to see lives restored through faith, community and practical support. We are a local, non-denominational Christian Church serving people in and around Portobello and the wider Edinburgh area. We do this by providing regular worship services, Bible teaching, prayer, pastoral care and opportunities for people to build supportive relationships. We encourage people to develop a personal Christian faith and to put that faith into practice through serving others and sharing the Christian message. We also seek to welcome and support people from different backgrounds and stages of life, creating a safe and caring community where people can find hope, purpose, friendship and practical encouragement. Through our church activities, outreach and community engagement, we aim to rebuild lives, restore those who feel lost and help people live purposeful, Christ-centred lives.
