The organisation has been formed to benefit those residing within the areas previously associated with the former Parish Church of Melness, as defined by postcodes within the following areas of Melness, Tongue and Skerray. IV274YP, IV274XR, KW147TH with the following purposes: 4.1 To provide public benefit through the advancement of heritage, religion and community development by: a) promoting understanding of the culture and history of the ancient crofting Parish of Melness b) acquiring and preserving the fabric of the historic Melness church so as to maintain public access for both non-religious and religious activities in the community. Private and public worship primarily but not exclusively in association with local Christian ministries c) To carry out any other activities in furtherance of the above objects to give scope for various activities relating to those outlined. organising non-religious activities in the community. Provided that the charity shall do so following principles of sustainable development.
