Constitutional objectives

The objects of the CIO are such charitable purposes which advance the religious and other charitable work for the time being carried on by or under the direction of or supported by the Order as the Trustees with the approval of the Minister Provincial shall from time to time think fit and if at any time the Order shall cease to exist or shall cease to carry on or direct any charitable work in England then for such lawful charitable purposes connected with the advancement of the Roman Catholic religion as the Trustees shall with the approval of the Minister Provincial decide. Nothing in the Constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the Charities and Trustees Investment (Scotland) Act 2005.
