02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Shapinsay Men's Shed exists to address the social, health and wellbeing needs of men of all ages and backgrounds living on Shapinsay, Orkney. We meet every Thursday at the Community Centre Clubrooms to connect, share a cup of tea, play pool and enjoy homemade cake. Beyond our weekly gatherings, we organise group outings and shared experiences such as fishing trips, attend the Orkney Men's Shed Network, and hold membership of the Scottish Men's Shed Association. We are active in our community through volunteering at local events, restocking the Community Larder, and supporting neighbours. We believe that simple shared experiences reduce isolation, build confidence and improve the wellbeing of our members and the wider Shapinsay community.
