02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
AutisFun Group supports children and young people with additional support needs, including autism and learning disabilities, together with their parents, carers and siblings. We provide safe, inclusive and affordable play sessions where children can socialise, develop confidence and take part in activities suited to their individual needs. We also organise accessible family outings, exclusive activity sessions and seasonal events to reduce isolation and ensure families can enjoy experiences together. Parents and carers are supported through free wellbeing sessions, peer support, training and opportunities to connect with other families. We also provide practical support, signposting and advocacy, including helping families with letters and attending meetings where appropriate. Our services are shaped by the experiences and needs of the families we support.

Constitutional objectives
The association's purposes are the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended by: 1. Creating a “safe space” where members who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Additional Support needs and their siblings/families can socialise with peers and have the opportunity to explore new situations and social activities in a person centred, inclusive environment without the social barriers and environmental factors which may hinder members in a typical club or social setting. 2. Promoting and encouraging socialising through active and sensory play. 3. Creating a support network for families whereby they can share experiences/strategies/knowledge with each other and interact with peers in similar situations. 4. Aiding in easing the feelings of isolation which are often encountered by these families and young people. 5. Liaising and working with organisations or individuals who could provide support/advice/training/experiences for the families who access the group in a setting which is familiar, comfortable and accessible to them.
