02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Digital Kindness helps small, local and volunteer-led charities and community organisations build the digital skills and confidence they need to communicate effectively, reach more people and strengthen their impact. We provide practical, accessible digital training, workshops and one-to-one mentoring for charity staff, trustees and volunteers. This includes support with social media, digital communications, storytelling, content creation and digital strategy. We also create free guides, templates and online resources that organisations can use at their own pace. Our work particularly supports organisations that do not have dedicated digital or communications expertise. By building their skills rather than simply doing the work for them, we help charities become more confident, capable and sustainable, while encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the third sector.

The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The advancement of education • Providing digital skills training and mentoring to charities, volunteers, trustees, and students. • Offering placements, workshops, and resources that improve digital literacy and confidence in the third sector. • Creating accessible, plain-language educational materials to help smaller charities navigate the digital landscape. 4.2 The advancement of citizenship or community development • Empowering local charities to better engage and inform their communities through digital channels. • Building the confidence and capacity of individuals who are active in community-led organisations. • Promoting ethical digital participation and inclusion, especially in rural or marginalised communities. • Facilitating a supportive network where charity members can connect, share knowledge, and collaborate, fostering mutual growth and collective impact within the third sector.
