02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Netball Scotland is the Governing Body for the sport of Netball in Scotland. It is a membership organisation responsible for the development and governance of the sport for individuals, clubs and communities. Netball Scotland’s strategy focuses on getting as many people playing netball across the whole country – whatever your age, whatever your background, wherever you live. It focuses on building on the love and passion that so many people have for netball, and to translate that into sustained and sustainable political and financial support for the game across Scotland. And at the centre of all of that it focuses on the Scottish Thistles as the pinnacle of who we are and what we do. Netball Scotland has the following principal objectives: 1. To engage, develop, attract, retain and sustain members 2. To develop and deliver a sustainable performance pathway for netball in Scotland 3. To be an effective and efficient organisation

Constitutional objectives
1.1 The objects for which the Company is established are the advancement of public participation in sport by: 1.1.1 generally carrying out the functions of the governing body of the Sport in Scotland. 1.1.2 fostering, encouraging, advancing, promoting, co-ordinating and developing the Sport. and 1.1.3 advancing community development in Scotland by way of engaging members of local communities throughout Scotland of all ages and abilities with the Sport and related activities. 1.2 The Company's objects are restricted to those set out in article 1.1 (but subject to article 4). 1.3 The Company may (subject to first obtaining the consent of OSCR) add to, remove or alter the statement of the Company's objects in article 1.1. on any occasion when it does so, it must give notice to the registrar of companies (Companies House) and the amendment will not be effective until that notice is registered on the register of companies.
