Constitutional objectives

The Society is established for charitable purposes only, with the objective of promoting and maintaining an interest in the history of the town of Beith and communities of Gateside, Barrmill, Greenhills and Longbar. ('the area'). This is achieved by: 4.1 providing and maintaining a local museum for the benefit of the area's communities and visitors to the area. 4.2 taking such action as may be deemed necessary to assist with the preservation of local historical remains and buildings. 4.3 arranging and providing for, or joining in arranging and providing for, the holding of exhibitions, meetings, lectures and classes in furtherance of the purposes of the Society. 4.4 promoting and undertaking research on the area and disseminating the results through publications, visual and aural material. 4.5 providing structures and opportunities to schools and other groups within the communities of the area to learn about the area's history. 4.6 providing a platform to inform the general public about the history of the area. 4.7 creating and maintaining databases on the history of the area and ensuring such material is publicly accessible.
