Constitutional objectives
(d) The Bo’ness Fund is to be used for the advancement of education, community development and/or amateur sport and will operate so far as possible within the following guide lines. (I) for the benefit of young people (up to the age of Thirty years) living in or originating from Bo’ness (Firstly) to assist funding (in the broadest sense) their education at any of – St Andrews University, Dundee University, Aberdeen University, Edinburgh University or Glasgow University and/ or (II) Considering that (firstly) there are those in Bo’ness who suffer from poverty and unemployment, and there are those who are able to work and contribute to society but are unable to do so due to lack of funding or relevant skills and (secondly) I wish the Trust to prevent or relieve poverty, advance and promote education, regenerate the Bo’ness area through its people and/or relieve those in need due to financial hardship in Bo’ness (all of which purpose is hereinafter the ‘Trade Purpose’) by way of developing and running a scheme or schemes to encourage and develop the talents of people from Bo’ness so that they may 1) train to enable them to follow a trade or profession and or 2) set up or expand a trade and business of local trades people, but only insofar as it can further the Trade Purpose. (All of such Trade Purpose and appropriate scheme or schemes are hereinafter the ‘Trade Aim’) Declaring that the only way in which the Trust may fulfil the Trade Aim (without amending the terms of the Trust further with the appropriate consents) shall be, (A) issue grants or loans to individuals from Bo’ness to further their studies in a trade or profession towards the Trade Aim. (B) Issue grants to businesses or suitable providers of such services to pay for, or towards, apprenticeship or other training schemes to train people from Bo’ness in a trade or profession towards the Trade Aim. (III) to promote the quality of life and community development in Bo’ness via (A) advancing the public participation in sport in Bo’ness and or (B) advance arts, heritage and or culture in Bo’ness by initiating or supporting local schemes for the foregoing by providing grants or funding for such schemes or supporting same in any other appropriate way.
