Constitutional objectives

The Organisation has been formed with the following Purposes to be exercised following the principles of sustainable development (where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs): 4.1 The promotion of equality and diversity, specifically in relation to autistic individuals, throughout the Highlands & Islands of Scotland and beyond. Challenging discrimination, stereotyping and labelling of autistic individuals and raising awareness about autism from the perspective of autistic people. 4.2 The advancement of education for autistic adults and parents of autistic children to connect to the autistic community, providing courses on what it means to be autistic, reduce stigma, promoting positive societal change, educating on legal and social rights and accessing services. 4.3 The advancement of human rights, through protecting rights, dignity and inclusion of autistic individuals, ensuring they are recognised, valued and empowered within society, through raising awareness of the Equality Act 2010 and United Nations Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), challenge discrimination, advocate for their legal and social rights, promoting autistic initiatives, fostering self-advocacy and strengthening the voice of autistic individuals in decision making processes.
