Constitutional objectives
Clause 5 The Organisation's main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The Organisation's Purposes are: Clause 5.1 To alleviate poverty among the residents of the Isle of Jura. Clause 5.2 To relieve the needs of those in the community who are disadvantaged by their rural isolation in ways that are charitable in law, including the young, unemployed, elderly, and those suffering from mental and/or physical disability, illness, or impairment. Clause 5.3 To provide, in the interests of social welfare, within the Isle of Jura, facilities for recreation and other leisure activities accessible to the public to enhance their quality of life. Clause 5.4 To promote training skills and opportunities of all kinds, especially those that will help residents on the Isle of Jura secure gainful employment. Clause 5.5 To promote, facilitate, and support other schemes and projects of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community within the Isle of Jura. Clause 5.6 To preserve, restore, and improve the environment in and around the Isle of Jura by providing, maintaining, and/or enhancing public open spaces and other amenities, as well as undertaking environmental and rural regeneration projects. In doing so, and where appropriate (while ensuring safeguards to clearly demonstrate that the public benefit outweighs any private advantage conferred on landowners), to carry out works of reclamation, remediation, restoration, and other operations to enable the use of land that has been restricted or prevented from use due to previous activities. Clause 5.7 To manage community land and related assets for the benefit of the county and the public at large.
