Constitutional objectives

The organisation's charitable purposes are: (a) To advance education and undertake research (and to publish the useful results of such research on a dedicated web platform or in peer-reviewed journals and other publications for the benefit of the public, decision makers, policy makers, researchers and the national and international media) on the political, security, military, economic and environmental challenges (and related issues) affecting the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), its subsidiary bodies and its member states. (b) To make available to the public timely, balanced, high-quality information about the activities of NATO and its subsidiary bodies, including partner and stakeholder analysis of issues under consideration by NATO and its working methods and performance, with a particular emphasis on the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation, and a more sustainable security architecture in Europe. and (c) To promote for the public benefit, on a non-partisan and non-political basis transparency and accountability in NATO and member states, and policy ideas and suggestions for building a more sustainable security architecture in Europe, through: (i) targeted research, dialogue and advocacy designed to strengthen the effectiveness of transatlantic security decision-making. (ii) outreach, awareness raising and training to help build civil society and parliamentary capacity on NATO oversight. and (iii) the creation and management of a civil society network of transatlantic civil society security experts.
