Constitutional objectives

4 The organisation’s purposes are: 4.1 To advance the arts, heritage and culture by promoting and preserving the cultural traditions of the Somali community in Glasgow, and by encouraging understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultural heritage of all communities within the city. 4.2 To advance education and promote equality by supporting the empowerment, skills development and active participation of women and young people in Glasgow, enabling them to contribute positively to their communities and to achieve sustainable futures. 4.3 To advance citizenship and community development by promoting positive integration, mutual understanding and cooperation between the Somali community and the wider population of Glasgow, fostering social cohesion and community wellbeing. 4.4 To advance human rights, promote equality and diversity, and support the elimination of discrimination by encouraging respect, inclusion and fairness within and between communities across Glasgow, regardless of race, religion, gender or cultural background. 4.5 To relieve those in need in Glasgow by reason of ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, including through the provision of humanitarian assistance, support and protection during times of crisis or emergency.
