Thurso Beach and Town Initiative

Constitutional objectives

To enhance, maintain and improve the appearance and enjoyment of all public areas within Thurso, including the Beach, Esplanade, Riverside and town itself, with accessibility for all as a priority. To advance environmental protection or improvement by tree management planning, litter picks, clearance of invasive species and paths maintenance. The advancement of citizenship or community development by a supported volunteering programme, fundraising working group and by maintaining access paths which are open to the general public. Advancement of health through providing opportunities for social interaction and physical exercise through maintaining paths. To promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment at Thurso Riverside, Mall and Beach areas. To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Thurso by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance the provision of a natural environment for recreation and other leisure-time occupations so that their conditions of life may be improved.
