Constitutional objectives
The cooperatives objects are: • The advancement of human rights. • The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. • The advancement of citizenship and community development. These purposes shall be achieved through the provision of, and wider access to, independent advocacy in Scotland. In particular, the Co-operative shall operate as a consortium of independent advocacy organisations working together to: 1. Increase access to independent advocacy by identifying, developing and submitting tenders for the delivery of national independent advocacy services across Scotland. 2. Deliver, co-ordinate and support contracts for national independent advocacy services in order to ensure that people are better able to understand their rights, express their views, and have their voices heard. 3. Support local independent advocacy organisations to collaborate on national projects and build capacity, thereby strengthening the independent advocacy sector as a whole. and 4. Carry out any other activities which further the above charitable purposes and are consistent with the Principles and Values of Independent Advocacy as defined by the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance (SIAA).
