Constitutional objectives

Repair Cafe Glasgow (RCG) is a volunteer-led organisation which delivers free repair events and workshops within Glasgow, the surrounding area, and occasionally further afield, sharing skills with individuals to help them extend the life of their useful and/or sentimental possessions such as handheld household items, keepsakes, toys and textiles. Our charitable purposes are the following: The advancement of education Repair Cafe Glasgow contributes to the advancement of education through both formal and informal training and skills development for our volunteers. The nature of the education that we undertake is linked to our repairing activities and the running or our repair cafes. Participants are also upskilled at our events through the interaction with our teams, explaining the repair process, and, where appropriate, participants are encouraged to assist in the repair as part of the learning process. We extend this learning through repair and maintenance workshops open to the wider public. (i) the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities Repair Cafe Glasgow increases the provision of recreational activities in Glasgow, the surrounding area and occasionally further afield, through holding regular and outreach repair cafes and other related activities. (m) the advancement of environmental protection or improvement Repair Cafe Glasgow promotes sustainable development through all three pillars. social, economic and environmental. Our activities aim to promote sustainable development both through our actions and our messaging. We tackle social aspects though creating a welcoming, inclusive route to allow communities to participate in actions that reduce waste going to landfill, which in turn contributes to reducing the impacts of climate change, and other negative environmental impacts. This reduces pressure on finite resources in our fragile environment, contributing to a more sustainable economic model.
