Constitutional objectives
The SCIO's purposes are exclusively charitable and for public benefit: 4.1 Advancement of religion: to advance Theravāda Buddhism by establishing and maintaining a place of worship and practice. providing Buddhist teachings, observance days and religious ceremonies. and fostering moral conduct, meditation and wisdom in the Theravāda Forest Monastic tradition. 4.2 Advancement of health: to promote mental wellbeing and resilience through instruction and practice of meditation as understood within the Buddhist tradition. 4.3 Advancement of citizenship/community development: to encourage harmony, compassion and community cohesion through interfaith and community activities, volunteering and outreach. and to liaise with other Buddhist and faith groups on shared aims consistent with these purposes.
