Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are: a) To investigate, record and interpret the historical, built, natural, cultural and industrial heritage of Musselburgh and its environs. to advance knowledge and understanding of them. and to promote their conservation, protection and enhancement for public enjoyment and benefit. b) To promote, where appropriate, the adaptive reuse of historic buildings in Musselburgh and its environs, as an environmentally-friendly way of repurposing and revitalising Musselburgh's built heritage. c) To promote good-quality, sustainable new architectural, garden and landscape design within Musselburgh and its environs. d) To promote both care for the natural environment and the increase and sustainability of biodiversity within Musselburgh and its environs. e) To promote the community-led enhancement of Musselburgh's amenities. f) To promote engagement with and involvement in the Society's activities both by the local community and beyond. g) To initiate and run projects supportive of the above objectives.
