Constitutional objectives
The SCIO is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular for: 2.1 the advancement of environmental protection and improvement, through the conservation, protection, breeding and sustainable management of threatened bird species - with a particular (but not exclusive) focus on species within the Order Galliformes - with the aim of preventing extinction and supporting biodiversity. This includes promoting research, knowledge and understanding of such species, their genetics, conservation, breeding and reintroduction. and 2.2 the advancement of animal welfare, by promoting and ensuring the highest standards of care, husbandry and ethical management for all birds held or managed by the SCIO.
